Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children has received funding from the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation (OIF) for two research projects. The Holman family was honored as special guests for the announcement of the two studies. Greg Holman gave a heart-felt speech thanking everyone from family and friends, to the nursing staff and Mallie's doctors, Dr. Michael Bober and Dr. Richard Kruse. "We always knew that duPont was the place for Mallie. DuPont has become a second home for us. Given the circumstances, it gives us comfort to know that we'll be treated like family when we come here."  Greg concluded his speech by thanking the one doctor he gives sole credit for the reason he and his wife Leigh decided to bring Mallie to DuPont.  "When Mallie was first diagnosed, we sought a second opinion from DuPont.  This doctor explained everything we needed to know and told us his mission was to give every child a childhood. Dr. Richard Kruse, we thank you for giving our Mallie a childhood."
